2010 Teaching Recognition Awards (TRA) – Rules and Guidelines
- Applicant must be a member of IARS.
- Applicant must indicate whether he/she is applying for the Achievement in Education Award or Innovation in Education Award.
- Prior applicants may resubmit, but must indicate which award they are applying for.
- Only one application per academic department will be considered, regardless of category.
- Applications must be sent to awards@iars.org (Subject line: IARS Teaching Application: applicant's last name) by June 30, 2010 to be eligible for consideration.
- Applicants must commit, if chosen as a 2010 TRA recipient, to attend the IARS 2011 Annual Meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia, May 2011 and present at the Awards Panel held the morning before the Seldon Lecture.
- Applications must include the official four-page teaching portfolio and a personal statement describing the applicant’s teaching philosophy.
- Five letters of recommendation are required, including one from each of the following:
- Applicant's Chairperson
- Fellow
- Resident (two resident letters may be provided if no fellow contact)
- Medical Student
- External Referee (outside candidate's department - same or different institution)
